Announcing MOSES and Maxsurf 2026 (26.00.00)

The MOSES development team is pleased to announce the release of MOSES 2026 (26.00.00).

MOSES 2026 introduces new capabilities for modeling complex floating structures, performing floating wind turbine stability assessments, calculating shallow-water drift forces, and finding product guidance more quickly with Bentley Copilot.

MOSES Executive

MOSES Modeler now includes linked geometry and compartment modeling tools for floating structures with complex internal arrangements. Base surfaces and meshes can be copied, translated, and rotated while retaining a link to the original geometry. When the base geometry is modified, the linked compartment meshes update with it, making it easier to create and maintain detailed compartment models of any floating structure. These models can be built graphically and then exported to MOSES for, stability, frequency domain, and time domain analyses.

The floating wind turbine stability analysis tools released in MOSES 2025 (25.00.02) have been extended to support the requirements described in DNV-ST-0119 (December 2025). MOSES can evaluate stationary quasi-static stability with user-defined wind turbine load groups or rotor thrust estimates, transient quasi-static stability using operating and idling turbine forces, dynamic stability using the maximum inclination angle from a time domain analysis, and inclination limit criteria for shutdown cases. These capabilities are available through the RARM (righting arm) command and the STAB_OK automated stability macro, allowing pass/fail checks to be reported directly from MOSES analyses.

This release also includes extensions to the second-order hydrodynamics capabilities. Pinkster’s method is now available for calculating the full quadratic transfer function, improving the calculation of slow-varying drift forces in the time domain. This is particularly useful for shallow-water installation operations and in-place analyses where second-order wave drift effects can influence mooring lines, risers, and power cables.

The MOSES Joint Can module has been updated to improve performance, reliability, and consistency of results between Joint Can and Postvue reporting. MOSES analyses now automatically write the Joint Can input file to the Postvue database when the JOINT_CAN command is issued in the STRPOST menu. Joint Can analysis options are then automatically read when the Postvue database is opened, and the appropriate analysis options are applied in Review/Redesign. Postvue support for Joint Can analysis options has been expanded to include every current analysis option.

MOSES 2026 included Bentley Copilot, a new tool that allows users to query MOSES documentation using natural language and receive AI-generated answers with direct references to the relevant documentation. This technical preview is intended to help users find commands, workflows, and product guidance quickly without searching across more than 1,000 pages of documentation.

The MOSES team is pleased to announce the release of Maxsurf (26.00.00).

This release of Maxsurf includes two new modeling features and some minor features and bug fixes.

Modeler:

  • A new feature has been added which enables you to define cloned, linked geometry
  • A new “Extrude Curve on Path” function which creates a surface which retains the control point properties of the generator curves

Stability:
